A Soldier's Dream By Pramoth Adhivarahan Everyone works from nine to five While I stand on mountain heights Or in the heart of never ending sand Death follows me wherever I go In the dusty lands or in the cold snow I wait and watch out for the dreadful shower Of the dark bullets and black gunpowder As the night descends, the situation worsens I try to think of my new born son and All the games she is playing with him Her pretty face comes before my eyes Enough to drive me to tears A bullet flies past me Hits a nearby tree Waking me up from my dreams Pushing me into the dark reality But then I realize It is for HER I am here To protect Her body, to protect HER soul Nothing can shake me from reaching this goal It is my only wish that When I am gone Not one but two should be there To blind the evil eyes that dare To touch my country Which to me is so dear.
